The Permanent Makeup Help Centre

BE IN THE KNOW

Welcome to the Semi Permanent Makeup Help Centre. I have compiled a list of common questions to answer any queries you may have regarding semi permanent makeup and my work. If you still can’t find the answer you are looking for, please let me know by visiting my enquiry page and I will be happy to help.

DOES SEMI PERMANENT MAKEUP HURT?

Everyone has a different pain threshold, therefore this is different for every client. However in my experience, the majority of clients are surprised at how little treatments hurt. The pigment sits less than one layer deep into the skin, as oppose to other forms of pigmentation; such as a traditional tattoo, which sits 3 layers deep into the skin. I am a fully qualified Act Fast topical anaesthetic administrator, which is the only adrenaline controlled pain relief available in the UK, therefore I can legally use the strongest anesthetic available within the industry.

HOW MUCH DOES PERMANENT MAKEUP COST?

The cost of a treatment varies dependent on what area I am working on and what technique is required, this will be fully determined on your consultation, as I assess what work is suitable. If you would like more information on pricing, please visit my price list page or contact me and I will get back to you with a quote.
Your initial consultation and patch test is free, however if you decide you would like to go ahead and book a treatment. I require a £50.00 deposit to secure your appointment.

DO YOU SHAVE MY EYEBROWS OFF?

This question is often asked and my answer would always be absolutely not. It is not necessary to remove the natural shape of the eyebrows. Semi Permanent Makeup should enhance the natural shape of the brow and balance your features, to achieve this fully, the eyebrows must not be shaved off.

CAN I HAVE SEMI PERMANENT MAKEUP IF I HAVE HAD BOTOX OR FILLERS?

Yes, you can have both. Timescales do vary between treatments dependent on whether you are having permanent makeup before or aesthetic treatments.

HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?

A consultation and patch test can take up to one hour and the initial treatment can take up to two hours, depending on the treatment you are having done. The second stage of your treatment can also take up to two hours, depending on how well your skin has held the pigment on the initial visit. Remember everyone is different and I am patient and take pride in my work, therefore timescales may vary.

CAN I HAVE A TREATMENT DONE IF I HAVE ALREADY HAD PERMANENT MAKEUP DONE PREVIOUSLY?

More often than not, the area can be freshened up, however this will be determined during a consultation, where an evaluation of the previous pigment will most likely determine whether a fresh pigment can be blended over the same area.

HOW LONG WILL THE TREATMENT TAKE TO HEAL?

This is dependent on which treatment you are having done as different parts of the face heal differently. However, generally the area starts healing after a couple of days and can typically be expected to heal fully after three weeks. The second part of the treatment is done once the healing process is 100% complete, therefore this would be booked in typically between 4-8 weeks after your initial visit.

HOW LONG WILL THE SEMI PERMANENT MAKEUP LAST FOR?

This can vary depending on lifestyle. For example, if you spend a lot of time in the sun, this will almost certainly fade the pigment quicker than if you are rarely exposed to intense UV rays. Any medication changes can also determine the lasting effects of the treatment. The age of the client and the type skin type, such as oily, can also variate the fade of pigment. However, I would say as a rough guide, generally, depending on the treatment, this will need a refresh every 12 months.

WHY CHOOSE JS SPMU?

Due to recent trends in the beauty industry, the world of Semi Permanent Makeup has become increasingly popular. Therefore it is often difficult to know which technician to choose. The industry is constantly developing and therefore there are a number of PMUAs practicing that do not have up to date techniques, council licensing for their premises or are trained by a well established beauty school. I have had the highest level of one-to-one training, which is up to date for the current year (2017), given by leading semi permanent specialist Gina Collins and my Training school, Beauty Concepts International (LCN), is accredited by the international hair and beauty industry authority, Habia. I also have an ongoing relationship with Beauty Concepts International (LCN), which gives me access to a network of trainers that have had over 30 years experience in semi permanent makeup. If you would like more information on my qualifications, license or insurance, please feel free to look at my ‘qualifications and accreditation page‘ or email me for more information.
